Emergency Hormonal Contraception

Oral emergency contraception is a tablet that a woman takes to help prevent pregnancy following unprotected sex or failure of a barrier method such as a condom. There are two types of emergency contraception our pharmacies can provide on the NHS: ellaOne and Levonorgestrel. Our pharmacists will help you decide which is most appropriate by asking some simple questions. However, both types need to be taken as soon as possible after sexual intercourse. There are other emergency contraceptive options available through your doctor or sexual health clinic if oral emergency contraception is not suitable.
